Contoh Analytical Exposition Text
1. The Importance of Learning English
In this modern era, there are a lot of people who still can't speak English. Actually, there are many benefits of learning English. Here are two reasons why it's important.
First, English opens new career opportunities. These days, many companies need employees who can communicate with clients from around the world. Usually, it means someone who can speak English because English is an international language. Being a bilingual person, you can get the opportunity to work in a global company.
Second, English tests can get you into schools. You probably already know English tests such as TOEFL and IELTS. If you learn English well enough to pass English tests like TOEFL, you can study in English-language universities across the globe. Although you aren't going to study abroad, learning English can help you in making the thesis because there are a lot of sources use English languages.
There are indeed many other benefits of learning the English language. But, the two reasons above help us to believe that English is important for our life and by learning English languages we can communicate with many people from other countries.
2. Integrated Pest Management
There is no best way to deal with pests in agriculture. Pesticides which are commonly used may cause many problems. I think combining different management operations is the most effective way to control pests.
Firstly, the chemicals in the pesticides may build up as residues in the environment and in the soil which absorbs the chemicals. This reduces the quality of farm product.
Secondly, pests can gradually become resistant to pesticides. This means that newer and stronger ones have to be developed.
Lastly, some pesticides affect non target plants and animals such as fish and bees. This affects the ecology and environment as well.
So, understanding of ecology of an area helps a lot in pest control. Pesticides should be chosen and applied carefully so that they don't affect the ecological balance and environment.
Therefore, integrated pest management is a safe and more effective option to fight pest in agriculture and livestock.
3. Career in Translation
Functionally, translation is transferring the message or the meaning of a text and not the words. According to Nida, such translation is called dynamic equivalence translation. It tries to bring the precise message in different language.
Many people like to watch Hollywood movie but most of them get troubled understanding the actors' dialogue. So the way they get the understanding about the movie is by reading the running translation text. If Hindi translation is provided, it will bring a better understanding for Indian moviegoer. Hollywood movie spread over other Asia countries. Therefore, Arabic translation, Indonesian translation, and Farsi translation are widely needed and that is a big chance for English master in that countries.
India is likely being an English speaking country. India translation will grow better and it seems Indonesia, Malaysia, and Filipina will also reach that mark soon. Translation job will be great in amount and that is good development for translating job seekers.
4. Is Smoking Good For Us?
Before we are going to smoke, it is better to look at the facts. About 50 thousands people die every year in the UK as a direct result of smoking. This is seven times more than by traffic accidents. Nearly a quarter of smokers die because of diseases caused by smoking.
Ninety percent of lung cancers are caused by smoking. If we smoke five cigarettes a day, we are six times more likely to die of lung cancer than a nonsmoker. If we smoke twenty cigarettes a day, the risk is nineteen times greater. Ninety five percent of people who suffer of bronchitis are people who are smoking. Smokers are two and half times more likely to die of heart disease than non smokers.
Additionally, children of smoker are more likely to develop bronchitis and pneumonia. One hour in the smoky room, nonsmoker breathes as much substance causing cancer as if he had smoked fifteen cigarettes.
Smoking is really good for tobacco companies because they make much money from smoking habit. Smoking, however, is not good for both the smokers and nonsmokers' health.
5. Nuclear Power
There are three separate sources of hazard in the process of supplying energy by nuclear power.
The radioactive material must travel from its place of manufacture to the power station. Although the power stations themselves are solidly built, the container used for the transport of the materials are not. There are normally only two methods of transport available, namely road or rail. Unfortunately, both of these involve close contact with the general public, since the routes are sure to pass near, or even through heavily populated areas.
Next, there is the problem of waste. All nuclear power stations produce wastes that in most cases will remain radioactive for thousands of years. It is impossible to make these wastes nonradioactive, and so they must be stored in one of the inconvenient ways that scientists have invented.
