Kosovo - Arkeolog menemukan prasasti mosaik basilika Kristen abad ke-6 di Gracanica, Kosovo. Penemuan ini mengungkap dedikasi Kaisar Justinianus dan Permaisuri Theodora.

A drone view shows archaeologists and workers carrying out the final tasks on a mosaic of a 6th-century Christian basilica before it is covered until further work resumes next season, in Gracanica, Kosovo, September 9, 2025. The discovery of the inscription within the mosaic by British-French archaeologist Christophe Goddard and his team reveals Emperor Justinian's dedication to the construction of the city of Justiniana Secunda in the Roman province of Dardania, with the dedication attributed to Justinian and Empress Theodora in the main Christian basilica of the new city they founded in present-day Gracanica, Kosovo, located 8 km southeast of Kosovo's capital Pristina, confirming the emperor's deep attachment to his native province of Dardania as reported by Procopius and by Justinian himself in his Novels, highlighting a significant shift in the relationship between episcopal power, imperial authority, and provincial cities as Justinian and Theodora chose to proclaim the refoundation of a city within a basilica rather than in a public square.
